This indulgence is a remission before God of the temporal punishment due for sins whose guilt has already been erased by the sacrament of Reconciliation. To obtain this indulgence, the faithful must perform <strong><u>certain devotional practices<\/u><\/strong>such as visiting specific churches or performing <strong><u>works<\/u><\/strong> of mercy, <strong><u>corporal or spiritual<\/u><\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8d54c8e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8d54c8e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Jesus&#8217; preaching in Mt 25:35-36 paints a picture of these works of mercy, so that we can understand whether or not we are living like his disciples.  <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-067890b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"067890b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Let&#8217;s rediscover <strong><u>works<\/u><\/strong> of <strong><u>corporal mercy<\/u><\/strong> :<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Feed the hungry,  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Give drink to the thirsty,  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Clothe the naked,  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Welcoming foreigners,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assisting the sick,  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit the prisoners,  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Burying the dead.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p>And let&#8217;s not forget the <strong><u>works<\/u><\/strong> of <strong><u>mis<\/u><\/strong><strong><u>\u00e9ricorde spirituelles<\/u><\/strong> :<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advising those in doubt,  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Teaching the ignorant,  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Warn sinners,  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Consoling the afflicted,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Forgiving offenses,  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Put up patiently with annoying people,  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Praying to God for the living and the dead.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-eceb147 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"eceb147\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><b>&#8221;We can&#8217;t  <\/b><b>escape the Lord&#8217;s words, and it is on them that we will be judged: will we have given food to the hungry and drink to the thirsty? Have we welcomed the stranger and clothed the naked? Will we have taken the time to stay with the sick and the imprisoned?  <\/b><i>  (Cf. Mt 25:31-45).  <\/i><\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"> <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b><i>In the same way, we will be asked if we have helped to overcome the doubts that engender fear, and often loneliness; if we have been able to overcome the ignorance in which millions of people live, especially children deprived of the necessary help to be freed from poverty; if we have made ourselves close to those who are alone and afflicted; if we have forgiven those who offend us, if we have rejected every form of rancor and hatred that leads to violence, if we have been patient in the image of God who is so patient with us; if, finally, we have entrusted our brothers and sisters to the Lord in prayer. It is in each of these &#8220;least ones&#8221; that Christ is present. His flesh becomes visible again as a tortured, wounded, scourged, hungry, lost body&#8230; to be recognized by us, touched and attended to with care. Let us not forget the words of Saint John of the Cross: &#8220;In the evening of our lives, we shall be judged by love&#8221;.   <\/i><\/b>  (Pope Francis, &#8220;Misericordiae Vultus&#8221;, \u00a7 15)<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3a9c9ab elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3a9c9ab\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>2- <strong>Opening the Holy Door <\/strong>:<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9de0339 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"9de0339\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2e5c269 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2e5c269\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In Rome, the start of the Jubilee Year is marked by the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter&#8217;s Basilica by the Pope. This door is usually sealed, and is only opened during Jubilee Years. <strong>Crossing the Holy Door is symbolic of repentance and the passage to a new, holier life<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5041ce78 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"5041ce78\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e13cb64 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e13cb64\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>3- Call to Conversion and Reconciliation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-38fddd5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"38fddd5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>  The Jubilee is a time when the Church places special emphasis on <strong>conversion<\/strong>, <strong>reconciliation<\/strong> and <strong>penance<\/strong>.
