Deliverance: a Church service to be rediscovered<\/b><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Magisterium of the Catholic Church has always had a clear understanding, based on Scripture<\/strong> <\/span>and the Tradition<\/strong> alive<\/strong> <\/span>the devil<\/b> ( Latin<\/a>: diabolus<\/i>, from the Greek<\/a> \u03b4\u03b9\u03ac\u03b2\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2<\/span> \/ di\u00e1bolos<\/i><\/span>from the verb \u03b4\u03b9\u03b1\u03b2\u03ac\u03bb\u03bb\u03c9<\/a><\/span> \/ diab\u00e1ll\u00f4<\/i><\/span>meaning “one who divides” or “one who disunites” or “deceiver, slanderer”). Scriptural and dogmatic reflection were at the root of this perpetual search for the Truth in order to better know not only the benefits of the Redemption accomplished by Christ but also to better understand the constant attempts of the one who divides, the “diabolos”, who too often prevents us from having a “undivided heart”.<\/em><\/strong>. His attractions are manifold, but Christ’s saving grace always remains above them, unless man consents to ignominy. Then the fall is inevitable! <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Cardinal Christoph Sch\u00f6nborn<\/strong>, Archbishop of Vienna (Austria) said. “the ministry of deliverance is necessary for the evangelization of our world today, because it enables that encounter with God’s mercy which sets us free, and of which Pope Francis speaks so often. The reflections and instructions offered in this little book represent the ripe fruit of greater participation by the lay faithful in the Church’s mission.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Fortunately, the Church is aware of God’s action on behalf of the Living Man, the one who, through and in Christ, aspires to become once again “Image and Resemblance of God <\/em><\/strong>(Gn 5:3), thanks to the conversion of the heart, while disfigured by the sin of origins and in search of his divine filiation. The coming of Christ goes in this direction, that of a Salvation that saves us from the impasse, opening us up to hope and setting us free. <\/p>\n

Various motives can thwart or slow down this noble and holy aspiration to draw closer to God, to be his friend. Among them, the explicit choice of sin without repentance, or the manifestations of the enemy, the Divider, who, beyond the simple temptations present in our daily lives, attacks and torments the Christians (and non-Christians) that we are, even though we are all pilgrims in this life. This can be the result of a desire to live while creating loopholes within us, such as serious sin unacknowledged in confession, or indulging in occult practices, or even suffering, in mysterious ways, the enmities of those who wish us harm through Evil. It’s the invocation of the enemy against us. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The Church then proposes a greater personal conversion through a simple process of renouncing evil, renewing one’s baptismal promises, living a Gospel-oriented life and trusting in the One who liberates and saves, Christ himself. The sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist, including Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, are indispensable, as is the elimination of all negative feelings towards anyone (hatred, desire for revenge, etc.). The heart must be free, while at the same time freeing itself from the hold of the enemy. Untie to deliver: the goal of the journey! <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
