A saint for today.
The feast of the saint of desperate causes continues to attract as many people as ever. It’s true that Saint Rita’s life has taken her through every possible state: poor then financially well-off, married then widowed, mother and finally nun. Her many sufferings and, despite them, her perseverance in following Christ make her a credible witness for our times. Not to mention her relentless struggle to convert her husband to the non-violence of Christ, and her many successful attempts to bring peace between rival families. Here’s a look back at the festivities that took place in our chapel-sanctuary of Saint Rita.

For those who don’t know, the Oblates of the Virgin Mary (o.m.v.) who run this chapel-sanctuary are responsible for the pastoral care of two other churches around the world, also dedicated to Saint Rita. In Nice, first of all, in Vieux-Nice, where devotion to Saint Rita began, and then moved on to Fontenay-aux-Roses. But also in Buenos Aires, with the parish-sanctuary of Saint Rita.

May Saint Rita continue to intercede for each and every one of us before God. Amen.
