Father Jean-Baptiste GARRIGOU, Orthodox priest attached to Constantinople, the same one who did the frescoes in our sanctuary in 2014, Pastor Alain JOLY, Lutheran pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of France, and Father François LAPOINTE omv, rector of our sanctuary, have come together to reflect on and create an ecumenical moment to be held next June (26-27-28) around the theme of icons and frescoes, interiority and faith, the undivided Church and ecumenism.

This exceptional occasion will mark the bonds of friendship that have united us for many years, both among ourselves and with the faithful of Saint Rita, as well as the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Atelier St-Jean Damascène (1965). You already know that, for over 20 years, this exceptional workshop has offered the opportunity to write icons for a weekend in the crypt of our sanctuary, with the necessary contemplation and continuous prayer.
We’re preparing a unique three-day event featuring an exhibition of icons in their various stages of preparation and completion, a lecture on the theology of icons and their canons, and the LIVE creation of a fresco on wood, accompanied by a musical concert to foster the atmosphere of interiority required for such a creation. And much more…
We’ll keep you posted on the final program. You’ll all be invited!
[Thanks to the two ladies, Elizabeth and Jeanine, two friends of the ecumenical cause, who made it possible for us to gather around a table with a refined West Indian menu].
