A fraternal gesture in the service of Christian unity.
In a profoundly ecumenical spirit, Father François Lapointe OMV, rector of Sainte-Rita Chapel, took part in the celebration of Easter according to the rite of the Coptic Orthodox Church. This participation is part of a process of fraternal communion between the Churches, marked by mutual respect for liturgical traditions and the search for the unity willed by Christ.
Father François was warmly welcomed by Deacon Samuel Matthias, representative of the local Coptic Orthodox community in Chatenay-Malabry. This meeting, marked by simplicity and fraternity, provided an opportunity to experience a powerful spiritual moment, at the heart of the Paschal Mystery celebrated according to an ancient and rich tradition of the Christian East.
Beyond this liturgical moment, this event bears witness to a concrete commitment to ecumenical dialogue, which is not limited to declarations, but is also lived out in shared prayer and encounters with the faithful.
In the same spirit, Father François Lapointe and Deacon Samuel Matthias will be taking part in an ecumenical pilgrimage to Egypt, organized by the Diocese of Nanterre, from April 20 to 27, 2026. Accompanied by a group of pilgrims, they will have the opportunity to discover the emblematic sites of Coptic Christianity, cradle of a living faith and witness to a thousand-year-old spiritual tradition.
This pilgrimage will be not only an experience of faith, but also a visible sign of fraternity between Christians of different denominations, called to journey together in hope and charity.
